Retention, Community, Etc.

I just tried to post a comment to Kat's posting, but somehow it isn't working. If anyone else is having problems posting, please email me and let me know. I think this is an important topic to discuss, and if anyone can't comment, send your comment to me and I'll post it here.

As we are growing, this topic is becoming more and more important. We are going to have lots of influx and outgo, and it really would be beneficial to find out what others believe are important components of community, and ideas on how we can implement anything we haven't already done.

As for getting involved with other groups.... I'm of mixed feelings. As in the real world, there are different types of people out there in that so called Pagan "community." I've met some great people. I've also met petty, whiney, needy, "psychic vampire," trolls, power hungry, title hungry, "my trad's better than yours," people that make me want to pull my hair out or beat them with copies of "All One Wicca." What does everyone else think?

Welcome To Everyone Joining Us From Witchvox

Well howdy to everyone who followed the links from our Witchvox trad article all the way to our little blog. Welcome to the party. (For those of you who haven't seen it, it's right here.

We invite you to read our website, which contains much information about our Trad and the way we do things around here. Please feel free to ask any questions you'd like, and if you choose to apply to CFFN, good luck to you!

Retention, Community and the wide circle of the net.

There are five or six major questions that relate to every tradition, and I have long felt that UEW answers the vast majority of them well. We know, better than most, who we are and where we come from and (I think) where we are headed. (In my mind, we are headed towards a larger and more robust community, with a multiplicity of leadership voices and elders, as well as people with different levels of participatation.)
One question another trad has asked itself is "how do we keep the people who are interested in our tradition in our tradition?" I would modify this, for UEW is not (and should never be!) the tradition for everyone. "How do we keep the people who are beneficial to and benefit from our tradition, without attracting people who are a detriment to our tradition and would benefit better from a different trad?"
Who are these people? What do they bring to the table? How do we keep them involved?"
Other question I encountered recently was centered around the idea of community? What makes you feel a part of the uew community? What doesn't work? What does? What do we need to put more work into?
How do we define this "community," anyways? Is a person who has read All One Wicca but never encountered another UEWwie a part of the community? And what of the many groups out there? How do we involve them in our community? Do we? Just some thoughts....

Kat Has Been Released - and UEW-L

Kat and Phoenix have escaped my clutches and are now back home. I failed in my mission to hold them for ransom. Well Waaaaa!

If you haven't been put on the UEW-L list on Google Groups, and wish to be on it, let me know. If you have the email addresses for any UEW'ites who may have left CFFN who might want to be on the UEW-L list, send them to me and I'll try to get them on as soon as Google allows it (they're a bit slow).

If you have any articles, musings, or other stuff you'd like to send to the UEW list, please do. It's a great place for discussions/ventings/musings/etc. etc. and could be a great resource for us. Have at it.

I Regret to Inform You

That your fearless leader, Kat MacMorgan, has been kidnapped by me, the evil Mikki, and will not be released until everyone who is late turns in their lessons. You know who you are. You know you are in trouble. You know that I am going to keep Kat for a long time. And Phoenix too.
