Official stance on Intellectual Integrity UEW affirms that the rites and rituals of individuals and peoples are sacrosanct, and my not be borrowed, stolen, altered or manipulated to suit personal needs. When peoples declare their spiritual properties and practices sacrosanct, they are viewed as such. When peoples do not, they are assumed to be such and the onus of responsibility is upon those who would borrow the spiritual properties or practices to seek permission. In otherwords, we do not take what is not offered to us unless we have asked -not demanded, not deceived, not stolen- and been invited to partake. We know what peoples give freely of their rites, and it is our pledge to respect those who do not.

UEW further affirms that its members practice a path of intellectual integrity. Original creations are labled as such, inspirational sources are mentioned, and the theft or plagiarism of sacred acts, rites and creation is against every core of our beliefs. Copyright infringement, misrepresenting one's position and the like are against everything we believe about respect and the rights of others.

UEW further affirms that those members caught intentionally disrespecting the spiritual properties of others are not welcome within our walls-figurative, virtual or literal. Ours is a tradition of RESPECT.

UEW also affirms agressively that we will not participate in the continued attacks on indigneous and tribal rites, not those of the Celts, nor those of Native Americans, nor those of any other people who become fashionable to rip off in the New Age and Neo-Pagan community. We feel such things are contrary to the Wiccan Rede and our oath of practice.

January 1, 2001.
We formerly had an addendum to this supporting the promise and the prayer, which basically said the same as the above. That campaign has been discontinued, but we still support the causes of respect and integrity.
